They keep staircases illuminated during the performances, not just the treads, each and every staircase is lit from above. Much too bright and too distracting, made it very hard to concentrate on the band. You're looking at people going up and down the entire show. Where are they going??!!
The front entry staff were disinterested, and inefficient at getting people through. It didn't help that they put the merchandising tables right next to the top off the stairs, creating a bottleneck. The ushers weren't really flung anything to check seat locations, so it's pretty easy to take someone else's spot if that's a thing you do.
Otherwise, had a great evening but I credit that to the bands, and the audio and light engineers.
Also, they seriously need to hire police to direct traffic on event nights, it was an absolute cluster.
The concert itself was great, but the venue is alright. Very small number of bathrooms for how many people the arena holds. Always a huge line.
I've never been so uncomfortable at a venue for a concert or event. And I'm a small, 5'4" woman. My back and knees were killing me by the end of the concert, the seats are so small.
If you plan to use a Canadian Credit Card, I suggest to bring cash. Our cards wouldn’t work at any of the concession stands or ATM. Other than that, great experience.
There are decent drink options, of both the non and the alcoholic variety. I didn't see anything to eat that was gluten-free, so if you have dietary restrictions, eat in advance.
Also, security was so annoying. I wasn't confronted by them, so it's not personal, but they were awful. You couldn't use phones/cameras (to "not bother other people") so security instead shines bright flash lights on the people using their phones and distracting everyone there. It'd be less annoying to just have people use their phones. They were watching everyone like hawks and it was uncomfortable.
Wouldn't go back!
The arena is fine but needs better numbering for sections and seats. I had two little kids in tow for Disney show. Couldn’t find the seat numbers, ended up in the wrong seats which were empty but no one arrived to claim them so we didn’t have to move. Part of the problem was arriving very late due to the parking. Don’t be fooled by the website’s claim of easy parking. It’s true there is a lot of it but it took us 45 minutes to get one block up Commonwealth and one block down to the garage. Stupidly slow entrance with everyone paying with credit cards and a slow gate. Get there really early if you plan to use the garage. We missed most of the first part of the show.
