Today was my first class here and just boxin in general! The instructor John was so kind and helpful. I got there right as class was starting and he made it easy for me to hop right in. You can purchase wraps on the spot and borrow gloves. It's pretty fast paced but everyone in the class was also very helpful. It's a smaller space and class which works well for me personally as a beginner. That being said, it would be a great class and work out for many levels as far as I can tell. I can't wait to go back!!
I can't express how happy I am to become a member at Back Bay Boxing gym. John is an excellent trainer - very kind, humble, polite and patient! Best part is that he himself teaches all his classes. He keeps the size of his class small so he can focus on each and every member. Every one hour session is based on true HIIT regime and is very intense.
The class packages are very affordable plus the gloves combos and other cool Back Bay merchandise is available at the gym itself. This is all worth your time and money! I definitely plan to be a long term member at Back bay Boxing gym and be coached by John.
Since there are limited class sizes one has the ability to interact with others while getting personal training on the side. That said, I've never had an issue registering for a class.
Hands down, the best fitness class of any kind in Boston, and as a ClassPass fanatic with exercise ADD, I should know. On top of getting an amazing head-to-toe workout, you actually learn good form and technique and can feel yourself making progress after just a few classes. John is super patient with boxing newbies like me who may be a little challenged in the hand-eye coordination department, and will work one-on-one with you until you get it right. I've also found that the more experienced students are always super nice and helpful. The whole class finds a perfect balance of being serious about the work but keeping a friendly and fun vibe. My exercise routine may have finally found a focus!
Great workout with a focus on building up boxing stamina and technique! The teacher is tough but fair and stresses safety first while challenging both beginners and seasoned clients alike. He also encourages a community atmosphere each class.
Whether your goal is to become a professional boxer (with accurate techniques) or you want to have a meaningful and result realizing fitness workout session - whatever your goal is, you'll get it fulfilled under this one roof! You'll definitely get the best experience out of it starting from your first class itself. The environment that John creates in his class and the people that come here are very positive and friendly.
All in all, it's an A++ environment for burning an obscene amount of calories while having blast. You will walk out drenched and not knowing why you signed up..... but will come back again and again to box.

Back Bay Boxing is an excellent place to change your usual routine and try a new, fun, and intense work out. I found the trainers to be encouraging and non intimidating, while challenging at the same time. This was a win-win as a beginner.
