Here in Boston for a business trip and always try to find the good gyms wherever I go. This is a great one with very friendly staff! I was greeted very friendly and was also offered a free workout! Awesome!
The only thing I can complain about is that it is somewhat limited of what equipment is there and that the dumbbells only goes up to 100 pounds. But still enough to throw in a great workout and I will be back tomorrow again, and whenever in Boston I'll be back!
Gym has everything you need at a competitive rate for the neighborhood/city. Staff is very friendly and knows so many members by name. Good mix of members at all different fitness levels. Clean space, weights are mostly always racked accordingly. Slightly cramped for space and a little dated but more than sufficient.
I love this place! Started going a while back and now I go every week. They have a great staff that will assist you if you need the help. The place is clean and the equipment looks in good condition. Yoga class is great as well. Instructor helps you with your technique and breathing. They have combat training (muy Thai BJJ boxing) classes that are the best! The instructors help you a lot! They don't just give you a work out they teach you the proper techniques. I went to other gyms and didn't like that the only work you out and not teach you the proper way to punch or kick. I recommend this gym to everybody!
Small, local gym
I strongly recommend this gym to anyone who wants to get a good workout with good ol' equipment in a nice cool location! Just don't expect to throw in a strongman workout as the weights are a bit limited, which is also why I reduce one star rating. I'd raise it to 5 if they would add at least 120 pound dumbbells
This is one of the few places to workout if you live in the North End. I would love to run from the Back Bay to this location because of the area it surrounds. It really is the prime spot to walk around after a workout. You have the waterfront just steps from doing push presses or a long workout. The price point is similar to the BSC and Fitcorp of Boston but the amenities are lacking due to the small size. This location gets incredibly hot inside because of the small workout room and close proximity of equipment. You get the feeling that you are walking into a hotel gym rather than a stand alone business. There always seems to be a wait for stuff as you are constantly in the way of others and people wanting to use the same equipment. It is a "regulars" gym and everyone knows each other because of the intimate natural of setup. Great location but if you are serious about working out you may find you need to belong to multiple gyms if you choose this one.
The gym is rather small and down in a basement. It has a style of the older era gym which I prefer. Very good equipment and good locker rooms. The cardio equipment is also good with some variety.
