I love this group! They host great trips and it's nice for carpooling to really great hikes (for example) that are not easily accessible without a car. They also prepare educational programs such as the spring hiking program. I've had a wonderful experience with them so far. Great way to meet people that are passionate about similar things as I am :)

AMC has been advancing the cause of New England's natural wonders for over 100 years. They run on a very tight budget and the price of a membership is a great value for what you get! Do not even try to overnight in the Whites without their WM Guide and super accurate maps.

Can't say enough about AMC. Have stayed in their huts and mountain lodges, gone on AMC volunteer-led trips, and taken classes. An incredible organization that manages to do good as well as exceed on customer service. In particular, the hut-to-hut hiking is a life-changing experience.

Not the same AMC as in the Beginning !!! More about Money and only Presidential mountains...Not all the Mountains of New Hampshire or Even more the Mountains and Hills of New England that would have come first for Trail Work that are now in BAD shape due to the Lack of Trail Work!! The WMNF is maintained by the USFS / USDA / USDF and USNP and State parks around the Whites...Myself a fellow Thru Hiker on the Appalachian Trail several Thru Hikes over the years and even a Ridge Runner and Caretaker for the Trail network find that so much trail work could be used in so many other places that need it !!! But seem that trail work is just in places of where the federal government has their staff placed !!! I've seen trails all over New England disappear over time just because of lack of AMC trail Work not used ...Really Sad!!!! The Huts are now just MONEY pits for rich people who don't want to deal with long distance backpacking!!! And the crowds there are far from anything that would have hiked these mountains 25 years ago.....Its gotten bad for people who really like being in the woods and Mountains......I find it really SAD that that after a 100 years of AMC membership in my family history , I am no longer a member of AMC...The price of the huts and Membership is outrageous by far and the way the staff in these huts treat AT Thru Hikers is really sad ( The Great Joe Dodge would be very upset today !! ) Quote J.D. " Anyone who has taken their ability to walk the Appalachian mountain range is part of the AMC family and is welcome here to stay for free with warm blankets and food ! " This is what AMC was like for many years ...I know a few Dodge family members in NH ..I heard this Quote from Dodge family member from their late uncle Joe Dodge of AMC 1949..This is No longer the treatment of any person who has really hiked up and down for 20 plus miles on the AT as a Thru hiker these days....I heard a story this year ( 2017 ) of a fellow Thru Hiker who was told to eat her soup outside in the cold rain due to her smell and the soup was cold itself ...As paid people had hot soup and where dry after hiking only a few miles....This is really sad to my eyes !!!!!! This was the last of many bad things that broke my membership away from AMC !!!!!!!!!
