The setting of the cafè isn't bad, and the prices reasonable. However, I haven't gotten the chance to try what they sell. It seems that at least one of their employees should be fired for an utter lack of courtesy or any kind of enthusiasm, and new staff hired to operate a store that from my experience can't produce one of the simplest beverages on their menu.
Nice atmosphere, cafe full with locals. Like their home-like service. But I'm taking off one star because coffee place didn't have decaf. Their refuge breakfast is just perfect though!
Showed up to grab some food and get some work done here. Was told the kitchen wasn't open because "No one has showed up yet" but the gentleman was kind enough to toast me a bagel anyway. Super nice guy! I left after I got my bagel though because the WiFi was so terrible.
The second attempt to get a latè was at 4:40 in the afternoon. I encountered an exhausted employee that was complaining to the customer before me "I've been her since 7am and don't want to do make anything else." When I try to order yet another latè she tells me that the espresso machine is broken and can only offer me hot coffee. Being that I can make hot coffee at home I declined and thanked her.
A good coffee and cold brew and music and big window to watch the street.
I obviously cannot recommend this place, and hope others don't encounter the same experience.
I have attempted to purchase a latè from refuge cafè twice. Both times I left without a beverage. In the same week.
My first experience was at 7:45 in the morning. This 45 mins after opening. I walk into the cafè and find a disgruntled and agitated employee that tells me "I hate this job", I understand this sentiment and it doesn't bother me to here it but when I proceed to order a plain latè. She tells me that she hasn't yet turned on the computer system and can't (or won't) take my order. I was trying to pay in cash.
