Absolutely a great time! We went on a cold and freezing rain December day just before Christmas and still had a wonderful time. The museum is interesting if a bit sparse on actual historic items, but the active portraits and holographic actors make up for it. They do have the only remaining tea chest from the Tea Party. The period actors were thoroughly enjoyable and engaging. And Abigail's Tea Room was the perfect treat on a 33 degree day after being outside in the sleet. Spent 6 days in Boston and this was the highlight of the trip...much better than many other attractions in the city.
We had a light lunch and bottomless tea. The scones were a little dry but they were tasty nevertheless. Thanksgiving sandwich was to die for. Really great.
The bottomless tea meant you could try all five types of tea that were tipped into the harbor during the protest. Our server was very knowledgeable on the subject and gave us some great context of the teas, who would be drinking them and quality tasting notes.
We had a great experience reliving history. I really appreciated the actors indicating when there would be louder portions of the experience car. This made it more welcoming to me and my guide dog. Their verbal descriptions and explanations really brought the experience to life for me as a blind person. The actors were incredible. Would like to know more about whether or not there were African American soldiers who participated in the early days of the revolutionary war. It would be cool if they had some braille and large print materials for visually impaired visjtors. But definitely will be back!
We didn't have time to do the whole tour, but we could hear it occasionally, and it sounded like fun.
Recommended.
The Boston Tea Party museum was incredible. The group participation made it all the more fun. The replica ship was fun and the kids had a blast throwing the fake tea boxes over board. I couldn't believe they had an original crate that washed up on the shores from that night. Our guide / actors were INCREDIBLE. Fully immersed, they really added that extra bit that made the tour so much more fun. The gift shop was extensive and had some very unique and no fun things to choose from. The tea and scone shop was cute. We had a few scones and cookies. Very well put together and pretty easy to find off the T train.
Actors and movies. Basically, the whole experience was a well rehearsed script by 3 young actors who guide you through a town hall meeting, replica boat, and make you watch 3 movies. It wasn't a bad experience, but it lacked the authentic taste of history that you can readily find on a guided around the city. However, this destination is probably a lot more exciting for kids and families, not a history buff.
There were fun games on the table for people to play. So one could conceivably spend a couple of hours chilling out in the atmosphere.
Reenactment of the Boston Tea Party. Staff were friendly and beautifully dressed. They were charming and knowledgeable.
