Depending on who you are and what you like, this could be really awesome time. Great collections of new and old, as well as some awesome installments in common areas.
Admission is pay what you can on Wednesday nights!
We made a lovely day out of our visit and chose to start with lunch at The New American Cafe, this was located in the center atrium and we the food and wine was delicious. We wanted to see the Asian and Egyptian displays but also the Japanese exhibit. This is very large museum, you should strategize what you want to see before you start. You could easily spend 3 days seeing all the attractions. It can be confusing to navigate, even with a map, but ask the docents, they are there to help. If you really want a great deal, buy the combined ticket for both MFA and the unique and beautiful Isabella Gardner Museum. I have been here many times, but since the displays change frequently it's always a great place to spend time and immerse yourself in other cultures and to enjoy the fantastic art collections.
Huge museum with an above average Egypt, European and American art section. I wasn't so impressed by the contemporary and modern art areas but the sculptures were exquisite. Took a highlights tour that ran almost an hour over but well worth it. The museum has several restaurants but seemed a little high for what you get; there aren't many eateries close by. Pricey entry but allows a revisit within 10 days which you'll need to look at the exhibits in depth. They also offer guided audio tours and several other group tours focusing on specific sections.
Always love coming to the MFA, great place to recharge and get the juices flowing. You can sometimes spot artists painting or drawing in a corner too... would be a cool part of a scavenger hunt.
The latest Japanese one that ended in Dec. 2017 was really cool!
Love keeping my eyes peeled for new exhibits!
Our favorites include the Monet collection along with other impressionists; the Picasso and Pollock room and other modern artists like O'Keeffe, Done, etc; and the ancient Greek and Egyptian artifacts.
The Japanese garden is also awesome, weather permitting. Membership is very enticing here, but I haven't taken the plunge, yet, so I can't speak to it.
Huge offering of art. You can even see some artist sketching real life models. It has free access on Wednesday and it is also open till late.( 9pm) if I remember well. Public restrooms available and wheelchair friendly. It is a huge place so it is better to visit it on different times in order to digest all it has to offer! I'll definitely go back!
