Best bike shop in the Boston area IMHO based on the quality of the service!
Repair turnaround times are impressively fast, and while they might give you grief about the state of your bike, I've never had issues with them trying to upsell me or BS me about needing new parts. They work wonders with a wheel truing stand, and I'm consistently impressed at how solid and true my (admittedly cheap) wheels feel after a tune up here.
Fantastic bike shop! Richard the mechanics is extremely skilled and always available to explain/teach what he does and the alternative repairs possible, never pushing for consomption. I'm doing time trials and triathlon so I needed help from an expert and I've never been disappointed.
I've been coming to Back Bay Bikes for the 5 years I've lived in Boston now. I'll admit that their customer service is a bit rough around the edges, and that they can seem rude and gruff at times, but seriously, give it time. Befriend the shop dog, be polite, and over time, you'll get some truly fantastic service and advice at a fair price.
Dropped my bike off for service. Turn around time was extremely quick and the quality was excellent. The mechanic also took time to walk me through some common bike checks and tune ups for future reference! Will definitely be back.
This place is a gem. The highly-skilled, no-nonsense staff repaired and tuned my bike perfectly. Other highlights include: transparent and very reasonable pricing, clear passion for the sport, and even an awesome playlist! Having an expert go above and beyond to answer questions and impart bike knowledge all while listening to Ratatat? Sold.
I'm working with them for the past 6 months, and I've switched entirely to this bike shop. Dan the owner is always here to help and propose alternative parts for all price ranges. They got me the exact same prices as on the internet, with the service on top. It's good to feel respected as a client, and leave the shop every time learning a bit more.
I've been coming to these guys for fast flat tire fixes and to pump up my tires for the past 2 years and they're great, plus I love the bike shop dog. The real reason why I'm writing a review is I bought a new cannondale from them in June and they were really fantastic throughout the whole process. I came in thinking I knew what I wanted and they were so patient when I had to go through several models to ride before making my decision. I never felt rushed or that they wanted to make a quick buck. Shout out to Zach and Tom!
